Success Story – Corona Support Weston-super-Mare
At the beginning of the Coronavirus outbreak in the UK, I realised there was little coordination and a lot of confusion around shopping, isolation and what the latest government/community advice was.
That’s why I decided to put my web design skills to good use and built Corona Support WSM, a central hub for advice, shop listings and useful resources. Working with local charities, businesses and North Somerset Council, I compiled all the latest advice and published it in an easy-to-navigate, concise format. The website was totally ad-free and non-profitable, and received over 15,000 hits in total!
The site also contained listings of all takeaways, supermarkets and other food shops still open, so that everyone knew where to get supplies. There was a particular focus on helping the most vulnerable in society, who weren’t able to go to the shops themselves so needed to know which companies and charities would help get food to their door.
